The List of Prohibited Items & Substances
This article has been developed in accordance with the standards and recommendations of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Security Advisory Committee of International Air Transport Association (IATA); following the legislation of and Civil Aviation Authorities of the States, where AEROSVIT AIRLINES is operating to/from. The article contains general information regarding classification and restrictions applied to transportation of some items and substances. Prohibited items and substances are weapons, explosives, incendiaries, and include items and substances that are seemingly harmless but may be used as weapons – the so-called “dual use items”. You may not bring it to or through security checkpoints without authorization. Prohibited items and substances discovered at security screening will not be allowed onboard. After prohibited item is discovered correspondent documents will be filled and law enforcement authority at the airport will be informed. ATTENTION: Bringing a prohibited item to a security checkpoint – even accidentally – is illegal! If permitted by the security or law enforcement officer, you may be allowed to: - consult with check-in staff for possible assistance in placing the prohibited item in hold baggage; - leave the item with people, who are seeing you off; - if available, make other arrangements for the item, such as taking it to your car or mailing it to yourself; - to leave the item on temporal storage in the airport of departure, if it is stipulated by the rules of airport; - or, voluntarily abandon the item. The order for dealing with prohibited items and substances, which have been withdrawn from a passenger, as well as procedure for its storage or restitution to the owner may differ, accordingly to legislation of specific State, whom the airport belongs to. The following List outlines items and substances that are permitted and those that are prohibited in your cabin or hold baggage. ATTENTION: You should note that some items are allowed in your hold baggage, but not in your cabin baggage. Also pay careful attention to the “Notes” included at the bottom of each section – they contain important information about restrictions and exceptions. The List of prohibited and permitted items & substances is not intended to be all-inclusive and is updated as necessary. To ensure everyone’s security, the security officer may determine that an item not on the prohibited items List is prohibited. In addition, the security officer may also determine that an item on the permitted List is dangerous and therefore may not be brought through the security checkpoint. ATTENTION: The List is applied for all AEROSVIT AIRLINES’ scheduled and charter flights. To nullify the danger, the empty fuel tank and/or container must be allowed to drain for at least 1 hour, the fuel tank and/or container must then be left uncapped for a minimum of 6 hours to allow any residual fuel to evaporate. Alternative methods, such as adding cooking oil to the fuel tank and/or container to elevate the flash point of any residual liquid above the flash point of flammable liquid and then emptying the fuel tank and/or container, are equally acceptable. The fuel tank, and/or container must then have the cap securely fastened and be wrapped in an absorbent material such as paper towel and placed in a polyethylene or equivalent bag. The top of the bag must then be sealed or gathered and closed with an elastic band or twine. | NO | YES | YES | NO | Lithium ion batteries with a Watt-hour rating exceeding 100 Wh and up to 160 Wh for consumer electronic devices. Battery-powered equipment capable of generating extreme heat, which would cause a fire if activated, e.g. underwater high-intensity lamps, provided that the heat producing component or the battery is packed separately to prevent activation during transport. Any battery that has been removed must be protected against short circuit. | YES | YES | YES | NO | Insulated packaging containing refrigerated liquid nitrogen (dry shipper), fully absorbed in porous material and intended for transport, at low temperature, of non-dangerous products are not subject to these Regulation provided the design of the insulated packaging would not allow the build-up of pressure within the container and would not permit the release of any refrigerated liquid nitrogen irrespective of the orientation of the insulated packaging. | YES | YES | YES | NO | Oxygen or air, gaseous, small cylinders required for medical use.
